Why I am still awake!

Oh, oh. 1am and I am awake again.

Well, actually that will help me to live forever. Right! I just read an article in Time Magazine that you live longer when you don't sleep to long...

How much sleep do you really need?

Studies show that people who sleep between 6.5 hours and 7.5 hours a night, as they report, live the longest. The big surprise is that long sleep seems to start at 8 hours. Sleeping 8.5 hours might really be a little worse than sleeping 5 hours.
So, how to avoid sleep then? Let me introduce to my techniques.
  • Internet: Well, the www is kinda like the universe, kinda everlasting and enternity. And if you like to read, to write, to discover, to play, you'll keep yourself busy. And you might learn a lot of stuff. Or find old friends.
  • TV: I suggest to get TIVO, Bluewin TV, Sky-Box or similar digital devices. You'll get a harddisc full of TV shows and movies and over 180 channells. I bet you'll not want to go to bed.
  • Music: There are some cool new albums out: Did you check out Gavin Rossdale? Or did you listen to the new Jewel record? Or browse myspace.com for unsigned groups... Music makes the world go round and keeps you away of your bed.
  • Fluids: Drink water, drink syrup, drink tea. And drink a lot of it. You'll need to go to the restroom every 45 minutes. No sleep for you then!
So, next time you wanna stay awake check your Facebook or MSN. Maybe you'll catch someone who wants to live longer as well...

Backstreets

When you're not able to run, you have to walk!

Well, I did that during marathons, when my legs cramped and I wasn't able to run anymore. To go the distance is the goal.

And now I have to walk, since the surgery at both of my legs doesn't allow jogging or running yet. But to keep my calves and muscles busy I have to walk. So, I went out for around 90 minutes. And since I won't be able to stand around in the fanzones of the EURO, I just went downtown to see what's the fuzz is all about. And I was impressed. A lot is going on in that town (Bern Tourism wants you to visit that beautiful town!).

Later then I strolled through some parks and finally came to the backstreets of the neighbourhood I live in. I even walked on roads I've never ran or walked before. Isn't that the greatest thing? To discover areas you've never been before?

That's what keep me going. To discover new stuff. Isn't curiousness just a great thing?

A town in orange

15'000 dutch people are standing on Bundesplatz in front of our parlament. And they do that since 8 hours... What for? They're here to watch the football game between Italy and Netherlands in the fanzone.

And me? Where am I when drunk dutch girls are graving for some affection? Well, I am grounded at home, since my surgery just happened 11 days ago and I need to put my feet up.

Anyhow, I think I wouldn't have gone there anyways, since I support the Italian team. And they are all on Waisenhausplatz...
